On January 27, 2005, Nipissing Transition House launched SafetyNet 2005, a shelter initiative designed to guide employers in responding to relationship violence as it impacts the workplace. A large part of the SafetyNet initiative included providing direct assess to information and resources for women. Many women fleeing abuse are isolated from supports by their abusers and have difficulty finding private and safe opportunities to attain information regarding their safety and situation. SafetyNet addressed this concern, in part, through its sticker campaign. Employers where provided with stickers containing needed information to be adhered to the back of female employee washroom doors or individual stall(s), to ensure privacy. The sticker campaign was accompanied by a Supervisor’s Tool Kit equipped with posters, pamphlets, stickers and community resource cards. The Supervisor’s Tool Kit contained information and resources to educate an entire workforce and provided them with the opportunity to gain understanding and awareness around the issue or relationship violence.
