Women’s Outreach & Transitional and Housing Support Services
...Life is either a daring adventure or nothing. To keep our faces toward change and behave like free spirits in the presence of fate is strength undefeatable...

Women’s Outreach is a program of the shelter and works to provide support services to women as they transition from abusive relationships into lives free from violence. We offer a wide range of services that include:
- One-on-one support and crisis counselling. This service is offered in order to provide ongoing support to women fleeing or healing from abusive relationships. This non-therapeutic service can be adapted to each woman’s individual needs, whether they need to talk one time only or over longer periods of time.
- Self-help/Support groups for women – breaking the cycle of isolation and assisting women as they work to create safe and empowered lives.
- Transitional and Housing Support Program: assistance with finding and maintaining housing, including budgeting and all other support services noted here.
- Advocacy with community agencies. Although we encourage and support self-advocacy, which is knowing your rights and responsibilities, standing up for them and making your own life choices, sometimes you need a stronger or more informed voice to speak on your behalf. That is advocacy.
- Accompaniments to appointments regarding income support, legal and other support services.
- Referrals to community agencies, including those specific to housing.
- Assistance with completing forms and applications around issues of abuse and financial assistance: Ontario Disability Support Program applications, Ontario Works, Housing, legal forms…
- Public educations, presentations and displays, including our Clothesline Project (collection of hand-painted t-shirts created by women expressing their thoughts on violence and abuse)
- Safety planning

*These services are provided to both resident and non-resident women.
